Aromatherapy is a popular alternative healing modality using extracted oils from flowers, herbs, seeds, and tree roots and bark. These botanical oils are commonly referred to as “essential oils” and are believed to have healing effects on a plethora of health issues as well as Chakra balancing.
Moreover, essential oils are produced by either distillation or cold-pressing plant material to render a concentrated pure oil. Then the oil is bottled for use by rubbing a diluted blend into the skin, sniffing it neat (non-diluted) from the bottle, or infusing it neat into a room.
Although use of essential oils dates back to ancient Egypt, their use continues to be wildly popular today. For they are now sold by all manner of retailers, both brick and mortar and internet websites. And many American households today possess at least one essential oil diffuser.
Warning: many essential oils are toxic if ingested. And diffusing of some oils around small children, pets, pregnant or nursing women can be harmful to them. Keep all essential oils out of the reach of small children and pets. And if diffusing an oil in the presence of small children, pets, pregnant or nursing women, do your research to ensure the oil is safe for them.
Using Essential Oils for Healing and Chakra Balancing
The long-time popularity of essential oils stems from evidence that each single oil can help with a long list of physical, emotional, and mental maladies. This is because the vibrational frequencies of essential oil fragrances have a stimulating effect on the body’s organs, systems, psychological functions, and their related Chakras.
Since essential oils are stimulating, they should only be used for deficient Chakras. Nonetheless, if a Chakra is deficient, its complimentary opposite Chakra is likely excessive. And stimulating the deficient Chakra will pull energy from its excessive complimentary Chakra, thereby balancing both Chakras.
Disclaimer: Essential oils are not a replacement for professional medical care. They should be used as a complimentary treatment only. For any serious medical or psychological complaint, see a qualified licensed physician.
Complimentary Chakras
The Chakras, numbered from 1 to 7 starting at the base of the spine, are the Root, Sacral, Solar Plexus, Heart, Throat, 3rd Eye, and Crown Chakras. And since the Heart Chakra is centered between the 3 lower and the 3 higher Chakras it’s considered complimentary to all Chakras.
However, the other Chakras are each considered to have an additional main complimentary Chakra with somewhat opposing functionality.
And each Chakra’s compliment is located the same number of Chakras away from the Heart Chakra in the opposite direction.
- Root Chakra – Crown Chakra
- Sacral Chakra – 3rd Eye Chakra
- Solar Plexus Chakra – Throat Chakra
- Heart Chakra – All other Chakras
Essential Oils Matched to Chakra Issues
Each Chakra energetically affects specific bodily organs and systems within their area of influence. Additionally, each Chakra is connected to specific psychological functions.
Consequently, each Chakra has a direct effect on the health and psychological issues related to it. Fortunately, there’s often one or more essential oil(s) helpful for a Chakra’s various corresponding issues.

Summing Up
Essential oils can be purchased individually or in synergic blends that are tailored to stimulate one of the seven major Chakras. Some of these oils are intended to be sniffed or diffused and others are diluted with carrier oils that can be safely applied directly to the skin.
I’ve been using Aromafume’s 7 Chakra Essential Oil Blend Roll-on Set found on Amazon. And I use one or more of these Chakra oils each day for the Chakra(s) that are deficient and need help. I roll them directly onto the skin in an area that won’t contact and stain clothing.
Note: I do not receive compensation from recommending this product.
