Reiki, pronounced (Ray-Key), is a Japanese energy healing modality founded by Mikao Usui Sensei in Japan, during the early 1920s. Reiki, the name of this natural healing system, is made of two Japanese Kanji symbols meaning Universal (Rei) Life-force Energy (Ki).Reiki utilizes the Universal Life-force energy to reduce pain, and inflammation, and promote the healing of virtually all ailments; physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual.
How Important is Universal Life-force Energy?
This Universal Life-force energy, known as Ki in Japan, as Prana in India, and as Chi in China, is the essence that runs through all living beings in this world giving them the spark that differentiates them from non-living things. We are born possessing this healing and life-essential Ki energy, and when it leaves our body, so do we leave this world.
The Life-force, or Ki, is more essential to life than even oxygen. For example, modern medicine can give a body breath artificially, but it can not give a body continued life after the Life-force has left the body.
How is Reiki Administered to Clients?
Reiki healing is administered to the client from the Practitioner’s palms using light touch, or often no touch, as the Practitioner’s hands hover a few inches above the client’s body. During a Reiki session, the Practitioner will Reiki the 7 Major Chakra areas, plus the knees, ankles, and feet, as well as, any areas the Client has requested.
Are There Contra-Indications for Reiki?
There are no contra-indications for Reiki. Reiki can never harm a recipient, as it can’t be either over-dosed, or under-dosed. Reiki always flows to the Client for just what they need for their personal highest good. Additionally, Reiki is complimentary, meaning that Reiki can be used alongside any Western Medical treatment, without interference.
Where Does Reiki Actually Come From?
Client’s often ask, where does this healing energy come from? It comes not from the practitioner’s personal store of energy, but from the infinite, Universal energy storehouse. After their initial attunement to Reiki, Practitioners channel Reiki into their Crown Chakra, down into their Heart Chakra, through their arms and out through their palms into their own, or their Client’s body.
The supply of Universal energy is unlimited. Therefore, if Reiki attuned, the Practitioner is never depleted of their personal energy when giving Reiki to another. Rather, they are replenished with additional Universal energy, as it channels through their body, giving themselves healing energy before it reaches the body of the Client. Thus, to give Reiki, is also to receive Reiki.
